I don’t much care for using Flash on my Mac, but I honestly don’t want Apple to try to create “another” type of plug-in or something. I’d rather the web move on to HTML5. I don’t care whether Flash goes or stays. I really would like it if sites offered an alternative to Flash for Apple mobile users. I guess that means double coding, but Apple mobile users are going to have a lot of influence on the web due to being the segment that has and is willing to spend money. I’m sure advertisers want to reach Apple mobile users so I think they should force sites to offer an alternative. Flash is a resource hog on Windows but even more so on OSX. The latest Flash plug-in works much better, but I mainly use ClickToFlash and don’t have to see Flash banners at all.
There’s talk about this new Adobe Air, but I don’t know if that’s a solution or not. Steve Jobs may not want any Adobe stuff running on his devices and if that’s the case, then it’s a no go. When I buy an iPad, I really would like to view all of the internet if I want to, but it won’t be a deal-breaker if I can’t. I honestly do hope some reasonable compromise or full solution is reached. I’d like there to be equality for all major platforms for viewing internet content and definitely have low resource requirements for mobile devices so as not to kill the battery.
