Samsung is the king of U.S. HDTV market for four years

Samsung today announced it has retained its position as the #1 HDTV manufacturer in the United States for the fourth straight year. Samsung’s product innovation, technology leadership, and commitment to design continue to deliver industry firsts by raising the bar of TV excellence, suggesting this leadership will be maintained through 2010.
New research from top analyst firm, DisplaySearch, confirms that Samsung is the leader in the LCD HDTV market. In 2009, Samsung maintained its market share lead with 17.1% of total North America LCD TV unit share. Specifically, in the 40-inch and larger LCD HDTV category, Samsung achieved its leading position with 28.6% of units sold. Samsung also became the LCD HDTV revenue leader, grabbing 26.6% of total revenues in 2009, which is 9 points higher than the #2 manufacturer when looking at 2009 statistics alone.
In 2009, Samsung launched the industry’s largest line-up of ultra-slim, high picture quality, energy efficient LED TVs that quickly captured number one market share among competitors. With 60.3% (unit) and 72.5% (revenue) market share of LED backlit LCD TVs in North America during Q4’09, according to DisplaySearch, Samsung has established itself as the overwhelming leader in LED TV as the expanded market offers new opportunities for the company.
At CES 2010, the company continued to raise the bar delivering a complete 3D home entertainment solution as part of the largest 3D-capable product line-up. Further, Samsung strengthened its leadership position by delivering the industry’s largest line-up of LED TVs and unveiling an LCD HDTV portfolio featuring 3D technology, enhanced picture quality, advanced connectivity, new design and improved energy efficiency.
